All of you who know me, and know my story, know the toll my Army deployment and subsequent career as a cross-trained police officer and firefighter took on my mental, physical and emotional health. My journey of healing and self-discovery is what led me to become a certified meditation and mindfulness instructor. I was a little over half way through an 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction course, led by Dr. Michael LaValle in Dallas, TX when I had the startling realization that "Cops need to know about this &%@#!" Mindfulness and my newfound daily meditation practice were transforming me from the inside out. I didn't really know what an "intention" was at that time, but I remember having a deep knowing and a budding sense of purpose, hopeful I could find a way to share these tools with my brothers and sisters in blue and with my fellow smoke eaters! So here I am...humble and grateful to be a part of this amazing team...teaching cops to meditate!
